Clear DNS Cache in Windows 7

I was having a weird problem with my internet this morning, the internet works in my laptop but unstable in my desktop so I tried to look for    a solution and found out that clearing my pc's dns cache may fix my internet problem.

So here is how to clear the DNS cache in Windows 7.

In Start -> Search type "cmd" and press enter. Once the command prompt pops up, type ipconfig /flushdns then press enter.

WordPress : Allowed memory size of bytes exhausted error

If you get a memory size exhausted like error while installing wordpress (something like Fatal error: Allowed memory size of xxxxx bytes exhausted (tried to allocate xxxx bytes) error ) , you need to check and edit the memory limit in your php settings.

Here are the things that you can try to increase the memory_limit settings.

-  Edit wp-config.php- If the defined 32M or 64M does not work you can try to increase it to 128M

define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '128M');

- Edit php.ini settings -  If you have access to  php.ini , look for the memory_limit line and change it's  value to 128M

memory_limit = 128M

- Edit htaccess - if editing the wp-config.php file does not work and you don't have access to php.ini file, you can add this line to your htaccess

php_value memory_limit 128M

For me the htaccess method solved my problem, but if none of these steps works for you, you should contact your web host.

How to Import Large MySql Dump in your Xampp Localhost

If you are having a problem in uploading a large .sql file in your xampp/phpmyadmin in windows, you need to import it using the mysql command prompt.

Open your windows command prompt and access mysql.exe from your mysql bin directory (assuming that mysql.exe is in c:\xampp\mysql\bin)

1) type this in your command prompt and press enter:

cd c:\xampp\mysql\bin 

2) then type mysql.exe -u root -p yourpassword (or disregard -p if there's no password) and press enter


3) type this  use 'dbase' (where 'dbase' is the name of your database)  and press enter

4) source c:\yourpath\to\the\file.sql and press enter. * It is much better to include the whole path of the file.
